Aurora’s Road Trip album wins prestigious music award.

Road Trip

We’re thrilled that Aurora’s debut album for Warner Classics — Road Trip — has been announced as the winner of The ‘Klassik Ohne Grenzen’ Prize (Classical without Borders) as part of this year’s ECHO Klassik Awards.

The German ECHO music awards are amongst the most important and renowned music awards worldwide. Each year the Deutsche Phono-Akademie, the cultural institute of the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (German music industry federation), awards prizes to honour the most successful and outstanding achievements of German and international musicians. The ECHO Klassik Awards are a major highlight of Germany’s classical music year, and this year’s televised gala event will take place at the Konzerthaus Berlin on 18 October, when the prize winners will receive their accolades.

Speaking of the award, Aurora’s Chief Executive John Harte said: “Creating Road Trip was one of the highlights of Aurora’s ten-year journey to date: it was such a thrill to be able to record some of the music which is dearest to us as an orchestra whilst also having an opportunity to collaborate with artistic partners of the calibre of Nico Muhly, Sam Amidon and Dawn Landes.  We’re absolutely delighted at the news that the recording has won an ECHO Klassik Award, and want to thank all the performers who contributed to such a memorable project, as well as Warner Classics for having been imaginative and bold enough to support a recording that others might have dismissed as being too eclectic or unusual.”
